Shaping New Hampshire How Free State, Project 2025, and Outsiders Are Influencing Our Laws—and What Comes Next

There were plenty of bad bills in 2025 and there will be more in 2026. Experienced legislators and advocates will tackle a variety of subject areas to explore the influence of Free Staters and Project 2025 in our legislature. Some bills are prepared by people/groups outside New Hampshire without the interests of New Hampshire at heart. Watch for actions we all can take.
In a nutshell, and without limiting what the speakers will address, we provide the following:
Representative David Meuse (Portsmouth, Newington, and New Castle in Rockingham District 37) sees alignment between actions of elected Republicans at the state level and the enactment by decree of Project 2025 at the federal level. He will address local and county partnering with ICE and upcoming Democratic bills in the criminal justice and immigration categories (as well as GOP legislative proposals if available).
Representative Russell Muirhead is Professor of Democracy and Politics and the Chair of the Department of Government at Dartmouth College. He is also a Representative (Grafton District 12). He will include commentary about the unmooring of government from its traditional core functions.
Advocate David Trumble will talk about education funding and election law issues.
He will address education and the Free State/Liberty Alliance agenda and how an approach favoring the common good contrasts with an approach favoring strong individualism. He election law bills whose hidden goals are to limit the number of votes that count and to keep people away from the polls.
Advocate Bill Maddocks is one of the leads of No Hate NH at Granite State Progress. He monitors White Supremacist/Neo Nazi activity that actively spreads disinformation that helps to support the base of voters and activists on NH’s far Right. The Right and the NHGOP make up a powerful block that we must organize to defeat.
Representative Wendy Thomas (Hillsborough District 12, Merrimack) will discuss the legislative process and how to make your voice heard effectively in testimony, LTEs and protests. She is finishing a book on this topic and will let us know where it is available.
This meeting will be recorded and sent to registrants and attendees after the event.
