LITIGATING FOR FAIR ELECTIONS & THE RIGHT TO VOTE:
A Conversation with Chris Dodge of the Elias Law Group
Among those fighting the good fight for democracy, the Elias Law Group stands tall. Founded by Marc Elias (whom many of you may know from the Democracy Docket), this law firm is boldly and unapologetically fighting to protect the right of every American to register, cast their ballot and have their vote counted. They have stared down threats from Trump and are taking their fight to state and federal court houses across the nation.
Now we get to hear from one of the Elias Group’s own attorneys who has been involved in several New Hampshire-based lawsuits. Chris will join Kent Street’s Kimberly Kirkland for a conversation about lawsuits currently making their way through the Courts where voting rights and the integrity of our elections are at stake. In one of these suits, Chris is representing several NH voters in a federal lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s attempts to obtain NH voter data.
More specifically, we’ll learn what kind of legal challenges are being brought, who are the citizens whose names are on these suits, and how these claims are faring in the Courts. We’ll also learn about what it’s been like for Chris, a former US DOJ attorney, to fight the Trump administration in Court. Join us and learn how to talk to people you know about the legal threats to our elections and what you can do to support the efforts to keep them free and fair – including what’s next for the Kent Street Coalition’s Voting Rights Working Group.
This will be a conversation between our Kent Street host, Kimberly Kirkland, and Chris Dodge with time for questions at the end. We encourage you to join us live and bring your questions.
After last week’s election victories, Democracy Docket sets forth a list of the voter suppression and election subversion efforts likely to come from the Republicans and Trump Administration in response. We are fortunate to have Chris, one of the lawyers who’ll be saying “See you in Court!” as our guest.
