Since Kelly Ayotte did not respond to our request that she ask her NH Supreme Court nominee some simple questions about the nominee’s positions on the centrality of the rule of law in our democracy and constitutional form of government, Kent Street Judiciary Project are heading to the confirmation hearing to ask the questions themselves.

Nominations like this one don’t always get the public attention they deserve, despite their profound impact on the everyday lives of Granite Staters. Thank you, Kent Streeters, for helping Kent Street spread the word about the importance of this nomination and reminding our elected officials that we are paying attention to their choices in Concord!
While Kent Street does not seek to be antagonistic, there are valid concerns Executive Councilors should explore:
- A judge should be non-partisan and impartial.
- Environmental concerns given Gould’s extensive lobbying and representation of Casella
- Election law and Gould’s partisan involvement
- Education–will he uphold 3 decades of legal precedent regarding the State’s duty to ensure fair funding of public schools
- Recusal from cases involving clients: the NH GOP, Governor Ayotte, the Executive Council and Secretary of State’s Office
- Flawed process leading to Gould’s nomination, adding a highly partisan candidate to a court that is already 100% Republican would impact Granite Staters’ trust in the Court and the judicial system.
The Judiciary project is asking Kent Streeters to
- Contact your Executive Councilor before September 12, to express concerns about Governor Ayotte’s nomination of Bryan Gould to the New Hampshire Supreme Court. View Talking Points & Background
- If possible, please also attend the confirmation hearing for this nomination on Sept. 12 at 10:30 A.M. in the Executive Council Chamber in the State House. View Talking Points & Background
