The atmosphere at the New Hampshire State House has become increasingly toxic for those who sit on the Democratic side of the aisle. With a GOP majority determined to force through its radical, Free State agenda, we have seen an almost total disregard for public opinion and political compromise. We have seen hate-filled attacks against individual members and vulnerable groups go virtually unchecked. In such an environment, it takes real courage and fortitude to show up day after day, week after week ever ready to fight the good fight on behalf of all of us.

📣 TAKE ACTION

As we near mid-session now is a good time to let our Democratic champions know that we appreciate their courage and persistence:

• Send a short, simple email to your Democratic Representatives and Senators thanking them for showing up and speaking up. The message line may be enough: “Thanks and appreciation from a constituent.”
• Send much-deserved words of thanks and encouragement to each of the four openly Transgender members of the House: Representatives Alice Wade, Alissandra Murray, James Roesener and Billie Butler. In the face of a slew of bills that would seek to deny their right, and the right of all Transgender people, to exist, they have spoken their truth with honesty, courage and strength. Sadly, too often, they have been met with disparaging, disrespectful and at times, hateful comments made only the more shocking by the failure of GOP leadership to issue any sort of reprimand or sanction against the members speaking them. Sending our support and thanks is just one small way to try to counter the harm.
