LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

The action is now shifting to full House and Senate floor sessions, where both chambers will take up all remaining bills ahead of the May 14 deadline.

Both the House and Senate will be in session this Thursday, May 7, and House Speaker Packard has asked House members to also hold two days for additional sessions next week.

These sessions will be packed. Now is the time to reach out directly to your own State Senator and Representative on key priority bills. We’ve listed those being voted on this week below—your voice matters, and it matters most right now.

We also encourage you to join us at the State House for visibility and accountability. Full floor sessions are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, June 4
  • Thursday, May 7
  • Wednesday, May 13
  • Thursday, May 14

If a bill passes both chambers in identical form, it can be sent to Governor Kelly Ayotte at any time. Watch for action alerts from us on legislation heading to her desk.

For bills amended by the second chamber, the process becomes more complex—but the clock is ticking. By June 4, the House and Senate must decide whether to:

  • Accept the other chamber’s changes (sending the bill to the Governor)
  • Reject the changes (killing the bill)
  • Or vote on a Committee of Conference report

In the coming weeks, Committees of Conference will work to reconcile differences between House and Senate versions. If a compromise is reached, both chambers must approve it. If either chamber rejects the agreement, the bill dies.

We are entering the final stretch. After June 5, the legislative focus shifts fully to accountability—and to the November midterms.

And as always, make sure to check out State House Watch from our friends at NH AFSC for in depth coverage of all things happening inside and outside of the State House.
