After a tough winter, early April is a time of renewal. Daffodils are breaking through the ground and even blooming in some areas of NH. Buds are showing on trees, and the grass is beginning to green up after a long winter. It is also a time of renewal for our efforts to create positive change in New Hampshire! Now, more than ever, we need to renew our efforts to stand up for all that is good about New Hampshire and against the harmful bills being put forth by the NH-GOP and Free State Project!
We are calling for a Day of Action this Wednesday! We will be joining in coalition with 603 Equality and ACLU-NH to not only conduct visibilities at the State House and 1 Granite Place, but to sign in, testify if possible, and support those testifying against several discriminatory bills (State House – HB1132 bans displaying flags other than the US, NH, and POW flags in schools) (1 Granite Place – SB459 limits access for trans folks in locker restrooms, and uses “biological sex” in placement in prisons, SB430 is recognized as a forced outing bill, requiring disclosure of any information about students to their parents, SB434 restricts books, websites, art, speakers deemed “harmful to minors” in schools). These bills are discriminatory and create censorship in our public schools … we must show up and say NO!
Wednesday April 8th: BAN THE BANS!
8-9:00AM Oppose HB1132 the flag ban in schools – Visibility and Sign-in on bills
State House
THEN … Head to 1 Granite Place to Oppose restrictions on trans individuals, forced outing, and book bans and censorship
9-10AM Visibility
10-NOON (or as long as you can) Sign in on bills, provide support with your presence in hearings, testify on bills
We have the opportunity to send a message of support to our LGBTQ community this Wednesday, and Thursday, we get to thank our legislators for bravely showing up and fighting the good fight. We hope to see you there!
