LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Things are moving very quickly in the legislature right now as both the House and Senate rush to meet fast approaching deadlines, including Thursday, May 14th. That is the last day for each chamber to act on all bills sent by the other chamber during the March crossover. Look for the floor session on the 14th to be loaded up with bills.
Please save the date (May 14) and plan to join us at the State House!
After May 14th, the legislature will work on reconciling those bills that passed each chamber but in different forms (for example, if the House passed a Senate bill but only after adding an amendment). We will get you up to speed once we enter that phase of the legislative process but for now, expect fewer and fewer bills to have hearings – which means there will be fewer and fewer sign-ins listed here.
Expect attention to shift toward us asking you to contact your state Senator and House representative(s) regarding bills coming up for floor votes AND to contact Governor Ayotte about bills that reach her desk.
CLICK ON THE BUTTONS below for a list of bills being heard, helpful information on each, and directions about contacting your representatives.
Sign in and provide written testimony by 9 o’clock on the morning of the bill’s hearing. (Sign-ins and testimony are officially accepted until 11:59 pm the day of the hearing. However, since some committees are voting on bills the same day they are heard, we recommend sharing your opinion before the committee meets.)
