ACTION ALERTS! Week of August 9, 2026

Please note: Some of these actions duplicate those found elsewhere in Happenings but we have heard that some readers with limited time find this short list helpful.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD NEW HAMPSHIRE ACTION FUND

Kent Street Coalition, with our coalition partner, Planned Parenthood NH Action Fund, is calling for volunteers! Help sign up fellow Granite Staters to pledge to vote for candidates who support bodily autonomy and access to abortion.

PPNHAF is seeking crowd canvassing volunteers to attend events in August and September to sign people up using our “Pledge to Vote” form. Once they sign, they’ll be on a list to receive a post card in October with information about pro-repro candidates running for state office in their district.

Locations for crowd canvassing include pop up rallies, bridge stands, neighborhood BBQs- truly wherever people are gathering! Training will be provided virtually, and all materials can be accessed online.

ACLU

Tell your Senators to reject CORCA.

The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA) is being sold as a way to stop shoplifting. But instead of making our neighborhoods safer, it would be a massive expansion of the surveillance state. This bill would give ICE and other federal agencies even more power to track our movements, monitor our associations, and collect people’s personal data for anyone to access.

(NOTE: when you click the link to fill out the ACLU form, make sure to change the name, address and email fields. The link automatically defaults to KSC)

MOMSRISING

Action #1:

TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to support moms and pass the FAMILY Act today!

Equal pay is about more than just the number on a paycheck; it’s about providing the workplace infrastructure that allows moms to stay in the workforce, advance in their careers, and protect their earnings.

Moms continue to be shortchanged, bringing home, on average, just 64 cents compared to dads. Due to structural inequities and plain ole’ racism, moms of color face even steeper disparities.

Moms can’t afford to wait any longer. Thank you for standing with us in this fight!

Action #2: Host a “Squeeze” Conversation

Every time we check out at the grocery store, open a utility bill, fill the gas tank, pay for health care and child care, or even look at our own impossible calendars, we feel it: Moms are being squeezed to the breaking point.

Just invite a couple of friends over, pour some lemonade, and feel the power grow! When you sign up for info, we’ll email you a toolkit that includes options for power-building activities.

History shows us that building power for much-needed solutions is often created one conversation at a time.

Action #3: Tell U.S. Senators: Protect our voting rights and REJECT the SAVE America Act – in any form.

This legislation would impose new paperwork requirements on eligible voters of every political affiliation, creating unnecessary – and costly! – barriers that would fall especially hard on moms, married women who have changed their names, seniors, rural voters, military families, and caregivers.
