ACTION ALERTS! Week of October 11, 2026
Please note: Some of these actions duplicate those found elsewhere in Happenings but we have heard that some readers with limited time find this short list helpful.
MomsRising
Action #1: Inspire some of your friends to go vote with you this year on (or before) November 3rd! Don’t sit this one out: Vote with your friends.
Action #2: Latina Equal Pay Day – Take Action Now!
You know the numbers, we share them every year—as we’re calling on our elected officials to do something, anything, to support pay equity for Latinas, our families, and our communities. But what you may not know are the stories of the very real women who experience the gender and racial wage gap in real life.
Action #3: HELP PHONE BANK AND KNOCK ON DOORS FOR CHRIS PAPPAS!
Moms in New Hampshire want candidates for public office to truly stand with families by putting forward policies that address one of the most present needs for families, access to high-quality affordable child care. And we have good news for you. Chris Pappas took the challenge and earned the Moms’ Seal of Approval on Child Care!
Last Week’s Action:
Tell Congress to ensure that people have the power to make medical decisions about their own bodies!
Every person deserves the freedom to make their own choices about their body, health, and future. And everyone should be able to decide if they’re having children, and if so, when and how many. But right now, politicians are taking those choices away—and the cost is deadly.
Demand your Congressional representative sign onto the EACH Act!
For 50 years, the Hyde Amendment has harmfully stopped federal health programs—like Medicaid—from paying for abortion care. This leaves many low-income families, military families, Indigenous people who receive care through the Indian Health Service, Peace Corps volunteers and government employees unable to afford the care they need.
The EACH Act would fix this. It would end the Hyde Amendment and make sure everyone can get reproductive healthcare, no matter how much money they make.
Right now, many lawmakers from both parties support this bill. There are 202 supporters in the House and 34 in the Senate, but we need your help to get it across the finish line.
Abortion care is health care. And most people who have abortions are already parents. Politicians should not interfere with our personal health choices.
Tell Congress: Call on HHS to stop RFK’s attacks on Head Start!
A federally funded, community-based program, Head Start has provided over 40 million children with quality child care, healthy meals, medical screenings, and early developmental support services (and so much more!) over the last 60-plus years. Yet instead of helping kids who need it most by supporting Head Start, Secretary RFK Jr. is proposing deregulating and gutting core standards that would put the program at serious risk.
ACLU
Action #1: Call on Congress to stop the ICE killings.
ICE agents fired several rounds into Oscar Belgal’s car. He was shot in the neck while his 5-year-old child sat in the backseat.
The Department of Homeland Security’s only response has been to point fingers at so-called “sanctuary” cities and New York City officials. No independent investigation has been announced. They haven’t drawn back ICE agents from our streets. They’re still committed to a dangerous mandate that ICE arrest 19,000 people a week.
AFSC (American Friends Service Committee)
Action #1: Tell Congress to restore funding for Medicaid and SNAP!
As of Oct. 1, states must now pay a much bigger share of SNAP’s costs—forcing many of them to make cuts to benefits and services, even as families are struggling to keep up with rising food costs. Instead of investing in human needs, the government is using our tax dollars to fund ICE, abusive policing, and the genocide on Gaza. We refuse to accept this.
Planned Parenthood NH
Action #1: Take a moment to add your comment now.
| The Trump administration is proposing dangerous changes to the 2030 census that would intentionally exclude some communities, including many noncitizens. The new policy would also eliminate data collection on race and ethnicity and forbid the government from collecting information on sexual orientation — even in future years. We have a short time to submit public comments to oppose these changes and make sure EVERYONE is counted in the next census. Public comments are one of the best ways we can make our voices heard. Trump administration officials must read every single comment. Let’s show them the power of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund community and overwhelm them by opposing these dangerous changes. |
CENTRAL NH INDIVISIBLE
Action #1: Citizens Petition demanding accountability for New Hampshire Education Freedom Accounts (“Vouchers”)
Action #2: No AI Data Center in Bow, NH!
