Only Senate Hearing Sign Ins this week. No House hearing priority bills, and no sessions
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Things are moving very quickly in the legislature right now as both the House and Senate rush to meet fast approaching deadlines, including Thursday, May 14th. That is the last day for the each chamber to act on all bills sent by the other chamber during the March crossover. House Speaker Packard has asked House members to reserve Thursday May 7, Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday May 14th as session day.
Look for these floor sessions to be loaded up with bills. Please save the dates (May 7, 13 and 14) and plan to join us at the State House!
After May 14th, the legislature will work on reconciling those bills that passed each chamber but in different forms (for example, if the House passed a Senate bill but only after adding an amendment). We will get you up to speed once we enter that phase of the legislative process but for now, expect fewer and fewer bills to have hearings – which means there will be fewer and fewer sign-ins listed here.
Expect attention to shift toward us asking you to contact your state Senator and House representative(s) regarding bills coming up for floor votes AND to contact Governor Ayotte about bills that reach her desk.
And as always, make sure to check out State House Watch from our friends at NH AFSC for in depth coverage of all things happening inside and outside of the State House.
